The International Award: A Challenge for All Young People
This Award Programme originated in the United Kingdom in 1956 as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (DEAS). The aim was to help young people bridge the gap between adolescence and adulthood, smoothly. It was introduced in India in 1962; today it is called the International Award for Young People (IAYP). After completing each level students receive the certificates and badges on behalf of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
This is an exciting self-development programme available to all young people worldwide, equipping them with life skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities and the world. Anyone aged between 14 and 25 can experience challenge and adventure, acquire new skills and make new friends. The Award has a presence in more than 143 countries and over 8 million young people worldwide have taken up the Award challenge so far. This Award helps young people to achieve their potential and develop into responsible citizens.
CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL is running this award from past four years and it shows participants ability, focus and determination to achieve their set goals and pursue them with passion, perseverance and single-minded devotion to the purpose. This year two of our school students MADHAV GUPTA & GURKARAN SINGH have added another golden feather in CIS Phagwara’s hat by achieving Gold Award. Principal,Mr Jorawar Singh congratulated them for their commendable achievement and accompanied the boys to the Gold Award ceremony which was organized on 14th July 2016 at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The National Award Authority (NAA) took immense pride in felicitating the Gold Award Holders. Mr Abbas Ali Baig, former cricketer, Indian team as the Chief Guest, graced the occasion with his presence.
